Biographical Information

I moved to Matfield with my wife, Ruth, in 1999. We both grew up in places which had a strong sense of community and where good manners and concern for the welfare of others were highly regarded. These are some of the things that have helped us to settle in this area and they are the kind of values that I wish to promote as a Parish Councillor. I wish also to work with fellow Councillors and other residents to do whatever it takes to maintain and enhance the quality of life in the villages.

My professional background is in public administration – so I hope to be able to use my experience and knowledge of national and local government to support the Parish Council in its endeavours.  I am Vice-Chairman of the Kent Association of Local Councils (KALC), which is the membership organization for parish and town councils in the county.

Away from PC life, I belong to an informal group of ramblers. On the first Sunday of every month we traverse the extensive network of footpaths with which we are blessed in this part of the county. Each ramble starts, and finishes, at the Hopbine Inn…
