Biographical Information

I moved to Matfield with my wife, Ruth, in 1999. We both grew up in places which had a strong sense of community and where good manners and concern for the welfare of others where highly regarded. These are some of the things that have helped us to settle in this area and they are the kind of values that I wish to promote as a Parish Councillor. I wish also to work with fellow councillors and other residents to do whatever it takes to maintain and enhance the quality of life in the villages.

My professional background is in public administration – so I hope to be able to use my experience and knowledge of national and local government to support the Parish Council in its endeavours.

Beyond Benchley and Matfield I am a governor at a secondary school in Gravesend – and on the Governing Body of Midkent College. I am also a Benefactor of Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, which is one manifestation of one of my passions: Western classical music.
