Non-Voting Members of the Parish Council

22nd July 2020

Following the cancellation of elections to the Parish Council in May a number of members of the Parish Council retired. The Parish Council planned to co-opt four new members, but this cannot be done because ten or more residents requested that an election be held and this cannot be done until next May.

In the interim, the Parish Council is inviting applications from anyone interested in joining as a Non-Voting Member. You would contribute to the Parish Council’s deliberations at committees and, on the invitation of the Chair, at full meetings, though as an unelected member you would not have a vote. You could also play a role on particular issues outside the meetings.

This role would suit someone who is enthusiastic, a team player, community minded, has some time available and has a basic IT knowledge (internet usage). In addition, the Parish Council would welcome applicants who have experience in planning, project management, rural affairs, finance, HR or Health and Safety.

Your role would last until next May when we hope the situation allows elections to be held. It would give a good insight into how the Parish Council operates and the issues it deals with to anyone who might be interested in standing for election next May.

If you are interested please send a CV to the Clerk at by Friday 14th August. You may be asked to “attend” a virtual meeting. It is planned to make a decision on successful applicants at the 7th September Council meeting. If you have any questions please email the Clerk.
